The Tempest (titulus Anglicus, scilicet "procella") est comoedia Gulielmi Shakesperii die 1 Novembris 1611 a Servis Regiis acta, praesente Iacobo I rege, primumque in editione in folio (titulo Mr. William Shakespeares Comedies, Histories & Tragedies) anno 1623 edita.
Prospero, eruditus et magus, fuit olim dux Mediolanensis; iam cum filia Miranda in insula quadam in exsilio vivit, spirituums rector, quorum praepositus est Ariel. Prospero etiam servum humanum habet, sed barbarum ac difformem, Caliban. Tempestate a Prospero sublevata, veteres eius inimici, inter quos frater Antonio, rex Neapolitanus Alonso, regisque frater Sebastian, e naufragio ad oram insulae refugium petunt, una cum Gonzalo qui fuerat socius et consiliarius Prosperi, et Ferdinando regis filio. In insula vagantur omnes et a spiritibus seducuntur (qui epulum magicum Alonso et Sebastiano praebent atque statim abstrahunt). Talibus miseriis et malis docti, inimici de erroribus suis certiores fiunt et cum Prospero reconciliantur; Ferdinand et Miranda amore coniunguntur.
Versiones cinematographiae nonnullae exstant, quarum una anno 1979 a Derek Jarman moderata est. Ex eadem comoedia Amatus Césaire ludum scaenicum Francogallicum anno 1969 recreavit, titulo Une tempête. Petrus Greenaway moderator cinematographicus pelliculam anno 1991 confecit, titulo Prospero's Books, protagonista Ioanne Gielgud qui personam Prospero agit.
