ハマトビムシ上科

ハマトビムシ上科 (ハマトビムシじょうか、Talitroidea) は、ヨコエビ類（端脚目）における唯一の陸生グループである。体長は10mm程度から、種によっては20mmを超える(Chapman 2007)。2019年2月の時点で、世界から115属340種ほどが知られる(Lowry & Myers 2019)。日本からは32種程度が報告されている(森野 2015)(森野 & 向井 2016)(笹子 2011)(Morino 2020a)。汀線際から高地まで生息し、幾つかの種は捕食者などに驚くと跳躍して回避する生態をもつことで著名である。

分布

• 世界各地。
• 砂浜や礫浜をはじめとして、塩性湿地や海岸林などのほか、河畔や森林、田畑などに広く分布する。Minamitalitrusなど一部の種は洞窟に生息し、複眼が退化している。

ハマトビムシ類はこのような環境に生息している。採集する場合は徒手のほか、水盤トラップの使用も有効である。

生態

• 海岸に生息する種は、礫の間や砂の中に潜んでいる。打ちあがった海藻などを餌としている。
• 主に植物性遺物の分解者であり、物質循環において重要な役割を果たす。特に、ミミズが自然分布していない海洋島においては、陸棲等脚類と並んで生態系の維持に不可欠な要素と考えられている。
• ニホンオカトビムシは長らくハランの主要な送粉者と考えられてきた(Kato 1995)。しかし、近年の研究では、より有力な送粉者が発見されている(Suetsugu & Sueyoshi 2017)。

• 森林に生息する種は、林床や樹上で生活している。
• 海岸生態系においては昆虫や鳥類などの餌資源として知られる。
• 海岸に産する種は夜行性として知られる。触角をコンパスのように用い、月明りを頼りに活動しているとの報告がある(Ugolini et al. 2016)。

形態

• 各付属肢は太い。尾部は互いに重なり合うように圧縮され、特に第3尾肢は退化傾向にある。
• 第1触角の全長は第2触角の柄節長より短い。このことにより、モクズヨコエビ科と識別が可能である。
• 雄間闘争に触角を用いるグループ（Talitrusなど）と、咬脚を用いるグループ（Orchestiaなど）が報告されており、これらの部位に性的二形が表れる。

7科からなる。分類体系は Lowry & Myers (2020a,b), Lowry et al. (2020), Lowry & Springthorpe (2021), Green et al. (2021), Lowry & Myers (2022) に基づく。和名は Ishimaru (1994)，Morino (2020a,b)，Takahashi et al. (2021) ，有山 (2022) に基づく。

人との関わり

• タイヘイヨウヒメハマトビムシ Platorchestia pacifica について裸足を噛むとの報告があり^[1]、砂浜のレジャーにおいては忌避される傾向がある。
• オカトビムシ Morinoia humicola は、多摩動物公園で展示例があるとされる^[2]。
