John Trulock, nado en Bow (Londres) o 31 de decembro de 1856 e finado en Iria Flavia (Padrón) o 8 de xuño de 1919,[1] foi o xerente en Galicia da compañía inglesa The West Galicia Railway Co. Ltd., propietaria da primeira liña de ferrocarril entre Santiago de Compostela e Vilagarcía de Arousa.[2][3][lower-alpha 1]

Fillo de John Trulock (1814-1869), un comerciante de millo natural de Bow, e de Henrietta Glascott (1833-?), natural de Whitechapel, que casaron o 31 de xullo de 1855.[lower-alpha 2] John Trulock foi o irmán máis vello doutros cinco fillos do matrimonio; Alfred, Arthur, Henry, Kate e mais Ellen.
John naceu en Bow[lower-alpha 3] e residiu con seus pais e os seus cinco irmáns en varios lugares do leste de Londres ó longo da súa infancia.[1][lower-alpha 4] Tivo unha existencia cómoda ata os trece anos, cando seu pai finou o día 24 de agosto de 1869 á idade de 55 anos. Trala morte de seu pai tódalas pertenzas da familia foron vendidas nunha poxa pouco tempo despois.[1]
A familia foi separada; no censo de 1871 consta que seus irmáns foran acollidos en diferentes asilos para orfos da cidade de Londres,[lower-alpha 5] non obstante, John con 14 anos vivía de forma independente e figura no censo como traballador dun almacén para unha fábrica de paraugas en Holborn.[1]
Cando contaba 18 anos de idade Trulock foi nomeado en Galicia voceiro da compañía Sociedad del Ferro-Carril Compostelano de la Infanta Doña Isabel na xunta xeral de accionistas de 1875. En 1876 figuraba como membro do consello do Ferro-Carril Compostelano, representando o financeiro británico da compañía Credit Foncier[6] e en 1883 exercía como xerente,[7] cargo que ocupou ata a súa morte en Iria Flavia no ano 1919.[3] En 1886 adquiriu para a compañía ferroviaria a locomotora Sar.[8]
Casou o 31 de maio de 1889 no Consulado británico da Coruña con Josefina Bertorini, filla do seu socio comercial Camilo Bertorini e mais da súa esposa María Margarita Jones, tamén coñecida como María Bertorini, a quen Rosalía de Castro dedicou o poema "Na tomba do Xeneral Sir John Moore", do libro Follas novas (1880). O matrimonio tivo sete fillos, incluídos John, que foi piloto da RAF, María, que casou con Eduardo Rodríguez-Losada Rebellón, e mais Camila, a nai de Camilo José Cela Trulock.[9]
En 1902 foi fundador e primeiro presidente do Real Club de Regatas de Galicia.[10]
John Trulock faleceu o 8 de xuño de 1919[11][12] ós 62 anos de idade e foi soterrado no cemiterio de Adina, en Iria Flavia.
Trala inauguración da Fundación Camilo José Cela no ano 1991, creouse o 25 de maio de 1999 o Museo do Ferrocarril,[13] integrado dentro da casa Museo Camilo José Cela, en homenaxe a John Trulock.[14]
