Boom cha cha(粵拼:bum4 caak1 caak1):華爾茲成日都會用類似下圖噉嘅伴奏;呢種伴奏就係所謂嘅 boom cha cha 伴奏-首伴奏啲音符成 1 2 3,1 2 3,1 2 3... 噉嘅規律,當中每段節拍第一拍強,就似十足華爾茲應有嘅節奏噉,所以一般認為,Boom cha cha 攞嚟做一首華爾茲樂曲嘅伴奏可以起到「幫演奏嗰個人一路留意住啲拍子」嘅作用[8]。
喺最基本上,華爾茲做嘅嘢如下:華爾茲本質上係一種拍檔舞,要兩個人-一般會係一男一女-互相懷抱住噉一齊跳[註 2];兩個人會跟住三拍子嘅華爾茲音樂,一路按住首樂曲嘅速度旋轉一路移動。喺奧地利嘅舞會裏面成日都會見到華爾茲,當中以首都維也納嘅最出名:喺呢啲舞會入面,唔跳嘅人一般都會齊齊退後去間舞廳嘅邊緣,等舞廳中間嗰度空出一個有返咁上下大嘅空間;想跳華爾茲嘅男士跟住就要行埋去佢哋想邀請嘅女士嗰度,問嗰位女士有冇興趣一齊跳(即係所謂嘅 May I?),而如果位女士肯同佢跳,兩個人就會行去舞廳中間嗰度跳;於是一對對跳華爾茲嘅男女就會喺舞廳中間一齊起舞旋轉[12][13]。
