Hertug av Edinburgh er en adelstittel i Det forente kongerike som er assosiert med Edinburgh i Skottland. Tittelen har blitt opprettet fire ganger siden 1726. Den nåværende innehaveren av tittelen er britiske prins Edward, hertug av Edinburgh siden 10. mars 2023.
Den første som fikk tittelen hertug av Edinburgh var Fredrik Ludvig av Hannover, som fikk den i 1726 av sin farfar, kong Georg I. Fredriks sønn Georg arvet tittelen fra sin far, og da han ble kronet til kong Georg III gikk tittelen «tilbake til kronen», det vil si at tittelen ikke gikk videre til noen andre personer.[trenger referanse]
Den andre gangen tittelen ble opprettet var i 1866, da dronning Victoria ga tittelen til sin nesteldste sønn Alfred.[1]
Philip, hertug av Edinburgh fikk tittelen den 21. november 1947 da han giftet seg med daværende kronprinsesse Elizabeth II,[2] og hadde tittelen til sin død i 2021.[3] Hans sønn Charles, prins av Wales, arvet tittelen etter sin far og hadde den inntil han ble konge i 2022.[3] I 2023 ble tittelen gitt til prins Edward.[4]
