Marnardal var en innlandskommune i tidligere Vest-Agder fylke med et innbyggertall på ca. 2 150 og et areal på 396 km². I 2020 ble Marnardal slått sammen med Mandal og Lindesnes til én kommune. Navnet på den nye kommunen er Lindesnes.[3]

Marnardal ligger 17 km fra Mandal og 45 km fra Kristiansand. Marnardal har ikke noe entydig sentrum, men tettsteder i Øyslebø, Marnardal, Laudal og Bjelland. Kommuneadministrasjonen var lagt til Heddeland. Det er over 400 gårds- og småbruk i Marnardal. Mandalselva slynger seg gjennom området.
Kommunen grenset til Lindesnes og Audnedal i vest, Evje og Hornnes i nord, Vennesla og Songdalen i øst og Søgne og Mandal i sør.
Den vestlige delen av Agder tilhører det svekonorvegiske grunnfjellsskjoldet, og består av to geologiske hovedformasjoner av proterozoiske bergarter som er dannet under de gotiske og senere svekonorvegiske fjellkjedeforldingene, med sterk metamorfose under den sistnevnte.[4] Et underlag av 1 600 - 1 450 millioner år gammel skifer, kvartsitt, marmor og amfibolitt med noe hornblendegneis, og ovenpå dette sure overflatestrukturer av både granitt og granodioritt (henholdsvis 1 250 - 1 000 mill år gammelt, og stedvis 1 550 - 1 480 millioner år gammelt). De yngste svekonorvegiske dannelsene bevitnes av større formasjoner av granitt. Den kaledonske fjellkjedefoldingen nådde ikke ned hit. Forkastningene går både i sørvest-nordøst retning, og i sør-nord retning.[5] Høyeste topp i Marnardal kommune er Ørteknappknuten (511,7 meter over havet).
Sørlandsbanen går gjennom kommunen og det er togstopp på Marnardal stasjon.
Marnardal kommune omfattet områder fra de tidligere kommunene Bjelland, Grindheim, Laudal og Øyslebø.
Bjelland og Grindheim var én kommune fra 1837 til 1901 med navnet Bjelland og Grindheim kommune. I 1902 ble de delt i to kommuner Bjelland kommune og Grindheim kommune.
I 1964 ble Grindheim og litt av Bjelland slått sammen med Konsmo til Audnedal kommune. Resten av Bjelland kommunen gikk inn i Marnardal kommune.
Laudal kommune ble opprettet i 1899 ved utskillelse fra Øyslebø og Laudal kommune. I 1964 Laudal ble slått sammen med Øyslebø og det meste av Bjelland kommune samt litt av Finsland til Marnardal kommune. Resten av Finsland gikk inn i Songdalen kommune.
De eldre kommunale arkivkildene for Marnardal (og tidligere kommuner) finnes i dag hos Arkivsenter sør IKS. Dette inkluderer protokoller fra for eksempel kommunestyre, formannskap, fattigstyre, skolestyre.

Marnardals tusenårssted er Høgtun kultursenter. Anlegget ble opprinnelig bygget som en folkehøgskole i 1922, og lå da i Øyslebø kommune. Det består av fire bygninger; hovedhus, verksted- og uthusbygning, festsal kombinert med gymnastikksal og styrerbolig med to leiligheter. Da skolen opplevde fall i søkertilgangen, ble anlegget tatt over av daværende Øyslebø kommune.
Stedet brukes som kultursenter med lokaler for organisasjoner og utleie til private, samt lokale for kunst- og museumsutstillinger. Styrerboligen er i dag museumslokale.
Anlegget ligger på en høyde med ustikt over bygda Øyslebø og elven.
