Cousteau suas mundi subaquatici investigationes in permultis libris describere solebat, quorum felicissimus fortasse est primus, The Silent World: A Story of Undersea Discovery and Adventure, anno 1953 prolatus. Praeterea pelliculas disponebat, insignissime documentaria libri The Silent World accommodatio, quae Palmam Auream praemium apud Ferium Pellicularum Canuense anno 1956 abstulit; solus quidem homo qui Palmam Auream pro pellicula documentaria adbstulerat manebat donec Michael Moore idem praemium anno 2004 pro Fahrenheit 9/11 acciperet. Multa praemia scientifica accepit.

"Mare, magna iunctura, est sola hominis spes. Nunc, ut numquam antehac, locutioni priscae est significatio ad verbum: nos omnes in eadem navi esse."[2]—Iacobus Cousteau.
