Andreae II regis Hungariae uxorisque eius Gertrudis de Merania erat filius.

Anno 1241 Bela rex tartari exercitus impugnavit autem pagani regem Christianum debellaverunt. Regnum retictus fuit et Bela omnes oppida reconstructavit. Regnum Hungaricum post incursum tartarum refundavit et neonatam filiam suam Margaritam (sanctam futuram) in claustrum misit. Post commendationem princesam tartari non venit denuo in Hungariam.

Bela anno 1218 in matrimonium Mariam Lascarinam Theodori Lascaris imperatoris Nicaeensis duxit.
