アグハ累層

アグハ累層とはアメリカ・テキサス州とメキシコ・コアウイラ州、チワワ州にかけて分布する白亜紀後期の地層。恐竜やアンモナイト等の化石が数多く発見されている^[1]。

年代

アグハ累層の年代と主に化石を含んでいる上部頁岩の年代はよくわかっていない。二通りの放射線年代測定が行われたが、7260万前（誤差150万年）と7690万年前（誤差120万年）とで結果が分かれた。^[2] 上に堆積しているジャヴェリナ累層との境界は7000万年前と推定されている^[3]。しかし正しくは6850万年前である可能性もある^[4]。アグハ累層の基底部は8050万年前と推定されている^[5]。
