Lana Turner Wallacen jaio zen, Idaho estatuan, 1921eko otsailaren 8an. Haren aita Virgil Turner koreografo ospetsua zen, eta 17 urte besterik ez zuenean egin zuen debuta Zazpigarren Artean, William A. Wellmanen A Star is Born pelikulan lan eginez. Warnerren aritu zen platoan denbora labur batez, baina jarraian Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer etxeak hartu zuen, emakume ilehori, gaizto, lizun eta erotiko baten rol egokituz.[1]
Emakume planta horrek arrasto nabarmena utzi ziom bizitza osoan, bere seduzitzaile fama pantaila barrutik kanpora zabaldu baitzen bat-batean. 1946ko The Postman Always Rings Twice obra beltzean egindako lanak puztu zuen haren fama, batez ere galtza motz, alkandora zuri eta zapia buruan zuela agertzen zen aurreneko eszena antologikoari esker.[1]
Dena dela, Vincente Minnelliren aginduetara egin zuen The Bad and the Beautifull da bere lanik onena, Douglas Sirkekin 1959an egin zuen Imitation of Life melodrama zoragarriarekin hatera. Kirk Douglas zuzendaria aztoratzen zuen aktore baten rola bete zuen aurrenekoan, eta alabari bizkar ematen zion ama zinikoarena bigarrenean. George Sidneyren The Three Musketeers (1948), George Cukorren A Life of Her Own (1950), Jean Negulescoren The Rains of Ranchipur (1955), eta Mark Robsonen Peyton Place (1957) lanek osatzen dute haren filmografia.[1]
Haren bizitza erreala fikziozkoa baino askoz ere gordinagoa izan zen. Johnny Stompanato izeneko gangster baten maitale izan zen, eta 1958an, istilu batzuen ondoren, bere alabak gaizkilea hil zuen, bien artean halako gora-behera istilutsuak sortuz.[1] Gertaera horren ostean, haren karrera zinematografikoaren gainbehera hasi zen. 1980ko hamarkadaren amaieran erretiratu bazen ere, Falcon Crest-eko atal batzuetan lan egin zuen.
