Phono-semantic compound (形聲 / 形声, OC *kʷaːŋ, *qʰʷaːŋʔ) : semantic 忄 (“heart”) + phonetic 光 (OC *kʷaːŋ, *kʷaːŋs). This character replaced 怳 (OC *hmaŋʔ)'s usage in the late Middle Chinese.
