From Proto-Albanian *bradma, potentially from Proto-Indo-European *bʰln̥dʰ-nó-s, from *bʰlendʰ- (“blonde, red-haired, ruddy”). Compare Sanskrit ब्रध्न (bradhnà, “reddish, yellow”), Proto-Slavic *brodnь (“colored”).[1]
