Aktivacija članova porodice mitogen-aktiviranih protein kinaza je glavni mehanizam za transdukciju vanćelijskih signala. Proteinske kinaze aktivirane stresom su jedna potklasa MAP-kinaza. Protein kodiran ovim genom funkcionira kao pretvarač signala tokom diferencijacije mioblasta u miotube.[5]
