Ovaj gen kodira protein najpoznatiji kao hematopoetska ćelija proteoglikanskih granula. Proteoglikani pohranjeni u sekrecijskim granulama mnogih hematopoetskih ćelija također sadrže peptidno jezgro otporno na proteazu, koja može biti važna za neutraliziranje hidrolitiskih enzima. Utvrđeno je da je ovaj kodirani protein povezan s makromolekulnim kompleksom granzima i perforina, koji može poslužiti kao posrednik apoptoza posredovanih granulama.[5]
