格陵蘭語

格陵蘭語（Kalaallisut），是愛斯基摩-阿留申語系中的一門語言，大約有五萬七千使用者^[3]，大多數為居住在格陵蘭的格陵蘭因紐特人。此語言跟包括伊努克提圖特語在內的加拿大的因紐特諸語言關係緊密。它是愛斯基摩-阿留申語系人數最多的語言，為格陵蘭的官方語言。

格陵蘭語的主要變體為西格陵蘭語（Kalaallisut，或直接稱為格陵蘭語），此變體自2009年6月起成為格陵蘭自治區域內的官方語言。格陵蘭政府旨在以這個舉動來強化格陵蘭語跟其殖民語言丹麥語的競爭。格陵蘭語的第二個變體為東格陵蘭語（tunumiisut，格陵蘭語：tunumiusut）。格陵蘭北部圖勒因紐特人講的極地因紐特語（Inuktun，格陵蘭語：avanersuarmiutut，又稱北格陵蘭語）是最後到達格陵蘭的，為伊努克提圖特語的一門方言。

格陵蘭語是一種多式綜合語，它可以通過把詞根跟各種後綴結合在一起而組成一個長的單詞。

歷史

格陵蘭語是由圖勒人在13世紀帶到格陵蘭的。在圖勒人到來之前的薩卡克文化和多爾塞特文化時期在格陵蘭講什麼語言不太清楚。

最早對格陵蘭語的描述是在17世紀時。隨着18世紀初期丹麥傳教士的到來以及丹麥對格陵蘭殖民的開始，詞典的編纂以及語法描述也相應開始了。傳教士在1750年編寫了第一部格陵蘭語詞典，1760年編寫了第一部語法書。^[4]

從18世紀丹麥殖民到1979年格陵蘭開始自治，格陵蘭語持續受到丹麥語的壓力。在1950年代丹麥的語言政策旨在強化丹麥語的地位。其中最重要的做法是小學之後的教育以及官方事務都是通過丹麥語來進行的。^[5]

從1851年到1973年，格陵蘭語是用一套由傳教士語言學家修訂的複雜的正字法來書寫。由於口語形式變化很大，1973年引進了一套新的正字法來把書面語靠近口語標準。改革非常有效，之後的多年內格陵蘭的識字率大幅提高。^[5]

另一個強化格陵蘭語的發展趨勢是自1979年自治後格陵蘭社會的「格陵蘭化」政策。這項政策把格陵蘭語作為教育中的官方語言，來抵消之前把格陵蘭語邊緣化的趨勢。把格陵蘭語作為小學教育中的唯一語言這個事實意味着在格陵蘭的單一丹麥語家庭把自己的孩子培養成丹麥語和格陵蘭語雙語者^[6]。現在有幾家專門的格陵蘭語媒體。格陵蘭廣播公司提供格陵蘭語的電視和廣播節目。此外還有一家格陵蘭語出版社。^[7][8]

在2009年6月之前，格陵蘭語與丹麥語共同為格陵蘭的官方語言。但在之後格陵蘭語則成為唯一的官方語言。這使得格陵蘭語成為美洲原住民語言中的獨特例子：由法律認定的半獨立地區的唯一官方語言。儘管如此，聯合國教科文組織瀕危語言紅皮書還是把格陵蘭語列為「脆弱」的瀕危程度。格陵蘭有100%的識字率。由於西格陵蘭語作為標準形式已成為主導語言，教科文組織的一份報告把其它方言列為瀕危，現在在考慮如何保護東格陵蘭方言的措施。
