前進澳洲美之國

《前進澳洲美之國》^{[註 1][1]}（英語：Advance Australia Fair），又譯《前进美丽的澳洲》^{[註 2][2]}，是澳洲聯邦的國歌，由澳籍蘇格蘭裔作曲人彼得·多茲·麥考米克（英語：Peter Dodds McCormick）創作，於1878年被首次演奏，1974年成為「愛國歌曲」（National anthem），直至1984年才被正式確定為「國歌」（National anthem）^[3]。

中文譯名

歌曲本名「Advance Australia Fair」採用了倒裝形式的詩意祈使句，以表達和期望「美麗的（Fair）澳大利亞（Australia）向前進（Advance）」。而澳洲聯邦政府也先後採用「前進澳洲美之國」^[3][1]和「前进美丽的澳洲」^[2]於官方出版物內容之中，分別作為該曲的指定繁中及簡中標題。相較之下，更為直白者則包括中國大陸政府翻譯的《前进，美丽的澳大利亚》^[4]和中國內地民間流傳的《前進的澳大利亞》、《前進，澳大利亞》或《澳大利亞，前進》等等。

沿革

作為英屬殖民地，澳洲自1901年立國伊始，均在需要使用國歌的場合一直使用英國國歌《天佑吾皇》或《天佑女皇》。

早在19世紀末，隨着澳大利亞的民族意識逐漸高漲，就出現了一系列本土讚歌，其中就包括彼得·多茲·麥考米克（英語：Peter Dodds McCormick）以拉丁語：Amicus（即「友人」）為筆名所作詞作曲的《前進澳洲美之國》。此曲在1878年11月30日在悉尼舉辦的新南威爾斯高地學會（英語：Highland Society of New South Wales）活動上首演，此後此曲開始流行，1901年1月1日聯邦開國大典上由一組萬人合唱團演唱。

此後，雖然《天佑吾皇》（《天佑女皇》）仍是國歌，但《前進澳洲美之國》在許多場合被作為澳大利亞的非正式象徵演奏，例如直到1952年澳大利亞的國有廣播機構澳洲廣播署在播出新聞前播放此曲^[5]；在正式活動中也經常用作開始或結束曲。第二次世界大戰後期，電影院通常會在播放《天佑吾皇》和《星條旗》之後播放此曲^[6]。

《天佑吾皇》作為國歌沿用到1974年。1973年，高夫·惠特拉姆政府決定澳大利亞應該啟用自己的國歌，並通過澳洲藝術公會（英語：Australia Council for the Arts）舉行競賽決定國歌。競賽最終決定的三首候選國歌都是傳統歌曲：即《前進澳洲美之國》、《叢林流浪》（Waltzing Matilda）及《澳大利亞之歌》（Song of Australia）^[7]。1974年經過民意調查後，惠特拉姆政府決定將《前進澳洲美之國》定為「愛國歌曲」（National song），在除去有特別王室意義的場合外的其他場合演奏。

1976年，新上任的弗雷澤政府宣佈在王室、總督、國防和表忠宣誓場合恢復演奏《天佑吾皇》，同時準備全民意見調查（即沒有法律效應的全民公決）。在1977年舉行的投票中，《前進澳洲美之國》贏得43.29%的選票勝出，而其它候選歌曲所獲票數分別為：《叢林流浪》28.28%，《澳大利亞之歌》9.65%，《天佑吾皇》18.78%^[8]。

《前進澳洲美之國》正式成為國歌則要等到1984年，霍克政府建議時任總督簽署誥令設此曲為國歌^[9]。《天佑吾皇》自此被稱為「皇家禮樂」（Royal Ritual），在國王或王室成員到場的場合與國歌先後演奏。

2020年12月31日，總理斯科特·莫里森宣佈，總督大衛·赫利已同意將國歌歌詞中的「我們年輕且自由」（For we are young and free）改為「我們團結且自由」（For we are one and free），體現國家認可澳大利亞原住民和托雷斯海峽島民的歷史。新版本歌詞於2021年1月1日開始啟用^[10][11]。

段落

此曲在草創初期曾有四段歌詞，但是最終的官方國歌版沒有採用第二段和第四段，因其後半部分寫有「Still keep a British soul」字樣而顯得英國情結過於濃厚，招致多數澳洲人反感，更被澳洲國會認為有冒犯之嫌。原稿的第一段和第三段歌詞在被選為國歌時都有修改，其中第一段的「Australia's sons all let us rejoice」被改成了「Australians all let us rejoice」，第三段則重新填寫了歌詞^[12][13][14]。
