Amalek

Amalek (kwa Kiebrania עֲמָלֵק, ʻĂmālēq ^[1]) ni jina linalopatikana katika Biblia ya Kiebrania, kwa hiyo pia katika Agano la Kale la Biblia ya Kikristo, kuhusu mjukuu mmojawapo wa Esau, kabila la wahamaji lililotokana naye (Waamaleki), na maeneo yaliyokaliwa nao^[2] (Negev, Moabu na jangwa la Sinai) ambayo katika karne ya 14 KK yalikuwa na wakazi wachache sana.

Mchoro wa Gustave Doré, Kifo cha Agag. Inawezekana "Agag" lilikuwa jina la kurithiwa la wafalme wote wa Amalek. Aliyechorwa aliuawa na Samweli (1 Sam 15).

Waisraeli walipohama Misri, Waamaleki walikuwa wa kwanza kupigana nao^[3] wakawa maadui wao wa kudumu mpaka walipoangamizwa na mfalme Sauli.
