Ostrava (tysk: Ostrau, polsk: Ostrawa) er en by lengst nordøst i Tsjekkia, nær grensen til Polen. Den er Tsjekkias tredje største by, med rundt 300 000 innbyggere, og er administrativt senter for regionen Mähren-Schlesien. Ostrava er også sentrum i en byregion med 1 153 876 innbyggere i 2004,[3]

Ostrava ligger ved samløpet mellom elvene Oder, Opava, Ostravice og Lučina. Byen er en industriby og dens historie og vekst er nært knyttet til utvinningen og videre bruk av de store forekomstene av svartkull av høy kvalitet i området. I kommunisttiden i Tsjekkoslovakia hadde byen tilnavnet «republikkens stålhjerte» (tsjekkisk: ocelové srdce republiky). Etter Fløyelsrevolusjonen er mange av tungindustriselskapene blitt nedlagt eller omdannet, men byen er fortsatt en av de mest forurensede i EU.
