Beryl Carnegy Joseph Oliver (født 20. august 1882 i Australia, død 13. juli 1972 i London) var en britisk veldedighetadministrator, så vel som det britiske Røde Kors' direktør for utdanning.[1]
Hun ble født i Australia til britiske foreldre, Francis Edward Joseph og Isabella Eliza Butter Joseph (født Carnegy). Hennes mor kom fra en adelig skotsk familie. Hennes far, Patrick Carnegy of Lour, var en etterkommer etter David, Carnegie, 2. jarl av Northesk. Familien tok senere Carnegy som etternavn etter at Isabella overtok farens eiendommer i 1915. Beryl var utdannet privat i England og Frankrike.[2]
Den 10. juni 1914 giftet hun seg med kontreadmiral (senere Admiral of the Fleet) Sir Henry Oliver av Royal Navy. De fikk ingen barn.
I 1910 ble hun med i St John Ambulanse Brigade og steg raskt i gradene. Ved utbruddet av den første verdenskrig fikk hun ansvaret for "Naval and Military Volunteer Aid Detachment (VAD) Department", som administrerte det kombinerte pleiepersonalet til St John-ambulansen og det britiske Røde Kors. Hun hadde denne stillingen under hele krigen, men trakk seg i 1922, i opposisjon mot planene om å oppløse VAD'ene.
Hun ble senere med i det britiske Røde Kors igjen som leder av sin VAD-avdeling. Hun ble kreditert for å holde det britiske Røde Kors i live etter den første verdenskrig, noe hun senere ble lovpriset for av en venn i The Times.
Under andre verdenskrig ble hun medlem av Society's War Organisasjon Executive Committee og flere andre komiteer. Etter krigen ble hun foreningens direktør for utdanning.
Hun gikk i pensjon i 1956. Hun ble da BRCSs arkivar og skrev dens historie, The British Red Cross in Action, i 1966. Hun skrev en annen bok, Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury, i 1969.
For sitt arbeid under den første verdenskrig ble Oliver tildelt det Kongelige Røde Kors (RRC) i 1916,[3] og utnevnt til Kommandør av Order of the British Empire (CBE) som en del av 1919 nyttårsutmerkelsene[4] og Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) i 1920 som en del av utmerkelsene i forbindelse med den første verdenskrig.[5] For sitt virke under den andre verdenskrig ble hun utnevnt til Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (GBE) som en del av 1948 nyttårsutmerkelsene.[6] Etter Kongen investert henne som Dame Grand Cross, presenterte Dronningen, som president av det Britiske Røde Kors, henne med en diamantbrosje på en fest på Buckingham Palace.[7]
Hennes mann Henry Oliver døde i 1965 i en alder av 100 år. Hun døde i London i 1972 i en alder av 89. Etter eget ønske ble hennes aske satt ned i Hill of Lour i Angus.
