Spansdalen (nordsamisk: Ruŋgu eller Ruŋgovuopmi)[1] er en dal i Lavangen kommune i Troms. Spansdalen er den største canyonen i Norge, og er ca. 8,5 kilometer lang, utgravd av Spansdalselva. I dalbunnen av canyonen ligger Sneveien (100 moh.) øverst, og nederst til under Holmen (30 moh.). Fjellet på nordsiden er Trosen (1 217 moh.), og på sørsiden av dalen ligger Spanstind (1 457 moh.) (Čohkka/Stuor(ra)čohkka/Ruŋggučohkka) med fossen Henrikkafossen (Heandrihkágorži). Fylkesvei 84 går nede i bunnen av dalen. (Ta av E6 på Fossbakken, etter 1 kilometer går fylkesvei 84 ned i dalen.)
I dag er det mest vanlig å bruke den korte formen av det samiske stedsnavnet. I nedre del av Spansdalen ligger bygda med samme navn (nordsamisk Ruŋgu). Navnet Ruŋgu betegner topografien på stedet.
De fleste av bygdas ca. 100 innbyggere (2009) er etterkommere etter svenske reindriftssamer som for ca. 200 år siden ble bofaste i det som hadde vært deres sommerbeiteland. Det er først i folketellingen av 1825 at de første bofaste samene kommer til syne i skriftlige kilder, men man kan regne med at de ble mer bofaste her fra slutten av 1700-tallet.[2]
