Matias Skard (28. mai 1846–28. juli 1927) var ein norsk pedagog, embetsmann, omsetjar og nynorskforkjempar.

Matias Skard var fødd i Øyer kommune, som son av Ola Torsteinson og Mari Johannesdotter på garden Skard.[1] Johannes Skar var ein eldre bror.
Skard var styrar ved Vonheim folkehøgskole 1884-1890, ein skule som var starta av svogeren hans, Christopher Bruun. Sidan var han lærar ved Levanger lærerhøgskole 1892-1901 og skuledirektør i Agder 1901-1921. Han var den første som konsekvent brukte nynorsk i embetsføringa si, og han bidrog sterkt til målsaka også på andre måtar, blant anna som omsetjingar av delar av Bibelen, soger og drama av Sofokles.
MSkard var inspirert av N.F.S. Grundtvig, og han arbeidde heile livet for klassiske, nasjonale og kristne verdiar.[2] Matias Skard døydde under eit ferieopphald på farsgarden.
