De varkensooghaai komt voor in het oosten van de Atlantische Oceaan bij Nigeria,^[5] het westen van de Grote Oceaan en de Indische Oceaan (Golf van Aden,^[5]^[6]^[7] Zuid-Afrika,^[8] Madagaskar,^[5] Pakistan,^[5] Sri Lanka,^[5] Indonesië,^[5] Papoea-Nieuw-Guinea^[9]) en bij Australië.^[10]
