സമുദത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വേഗത കൂടിയ മൽസ്യമാണെന്ന് നിരവധി ശാസ്ത്രഞ്ജർ കരുതുന്നുണ്ട്. വേഗത കണക്കാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത് 10-15 മീറ്റർ/സെക്കന്റ് ആണ്. വളരെ വേഗത്തിൽ വളരുന്ന ഈ മൽസ്യം ഒരു വർഷം കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ 1.2–1.5 മീറ്റർ (3.9–4.9 അടി) നീളത്തിൽ വളരും. നല്ല ഉറപ്പും രുചിയുമുള്ളതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ മാംസം.
