Gulielmus (vulgo Bill[1]) Labov (natus Rutherford in vico Novae Caesareae die 4 Decembris 1927) est linguista Americanus qui conditor disciplinae sociolinguisticae variationisticae late habetur.[2] Descriptus est "persona propria et auctoritate gravis praeter modum, qui multum methodologiae excogitavit" sociolinguisticae.[3][4] Nunc professor emeritus in ordine linguisticarum Universitatis Pennsylvaniensis investigationes sociolinguisticae, mutationis linguisticae, et dialectologiae administrat. Gradus academicos in Collegio Harvardiano (Artium Baccalaureatus, 1948) atque Universitate Columbiae (Artium Magister, 1963, et Philosophiae Doctor, 1964) meruit.
