Embryo[1][2] (-onis, m.[1]) vel embryon[3][4][5][6][7][1] (-i, n.[4]; -onis, n.[5]; -ontis, n.[1]) vel embryum[6][8] (Graece: ἔμβρυον, embryon, n.) est momentum amplificationis animalium ac plantarum. In specie hominis applicatur usque ad finem hebdomadae octavae post conceptionem. Postea embryo nomen fetus accipit. In creaturis, quae propagant coitu, coniugatio spermii et ovi appellatur fecundatio; quae determinat formationem zygotes, quae compositum ADN continet ex utroque parente.
