Baryon (-onis, n.) est in physica particularum elementarium pars corpusculorum, quorum notissima sunt proton neutronque. Verbum "baryon" venit a stirpe Graeca βαρυς (barys) quae significat "gravis"; refert de maiore pondere baryonum quam ceterae particulae tales leptona. Baryones (ut mesones) vis fortis succumbentes in familia hadronum quarcis numerati[1].
