Diaconus[1] (Graece διάκονος, "minister"[2]) apud Christianos est quidam sacerdotis vel pastoris adiutor, cuius officium, sive clericum sive laicum, secundum ecclesiam variatur. In ecclesiis Catholica, Anglicana, Orthodoxa diaconus est minister ordinatus, clericus qui sacerdotem in celebratione liturgiae adiuvat. In aliquibus ecclesiis Protestantibus diaconus est laicus qui varias res ecclesiasticas curat. Mulier sic ministrans appellatur diaconissa vel diacona.[3]
