È il figlio di Will Shields, ex giocatore di football americano e membro della relativa Hall of Fame.[1].
Shavon inizia la propria carriera italiana con la maglia della Dolomiti Energia Trento. Dopo un'ottima stagione coronata con una finale Scudetto si trasferisce al Baskonia. Qui disputa 2 stagioni condite da una Liga ACB vinta a porte chiuse, in una formula strana causata dalla pandemia di Covid_19 .[2]
Poi l'arrivo all'Olimpia Milano con la quale raggiunge una Final Four di Eurolega e vince 3 campionati LBA, 2 Coppa Italia e una Supercoppa Italiana.[3]
