Իզաբել դե Շարյերը ծնվել է 1740 թվականիհոկտեմբերի 20-ին Ստիխտսե Վեխտ համայնքիԶույլեն ամրոցում` Դիեդերիկ Ջակոբ վան Տույլ վան Սերոսկերկենի (1707-1776) և Ելենա Ջակոբա դե Վիկի (1724-1768) ընտանիքում։ Նա յոթ երեխաներից ավագն էր։
Ծագումով հոլանդուհին պատկանել է մեծատոհմիկ հաագաական դասին[5]։
Սլավոնական բանասիրության դոկտոր Ա. Լ. Պոգոդինը (1872-1947) 1930 թվականի իր աշխատությունում[6] այսպես է արձագանքել դե Շարյերի «Կալիստա, կամ Նամակներ Լոզաննայից» ստեղծագործության մասին`
… ես կցանկանայի ուշադրության դարձնել մեկ գրական ստեղծագործության վրա, որում անկասկածելի սյուժետային կապ և ինչ-որ ներքին հոգևոր նմանություն կա Դոստոևսկիի«Ապուշը» վեպի հետ[7]։
Տիրապետելով գերմաներենին այնքան ազատ, ինչպես ֆրանսերենին, դե Շարյերը իր ստեղծագործություններից մի քանիսը սկզբնապես գրել է գերմաներենով, որը այն ժամանակ շատ տարածված էր Նևշատելի կանտոնում[5]։
