Atópase no nordeste da rexión, na parte sur dos Sudetes centrais, preto do río Orlice —afluente esquerdo do alto río Elba—, e da fronteira con Polonia e as rexións de Hradec Králové e Olomouc. [1]
Žamberk ten unha rede de museos municipais, entre eles a casa museo de Václav Prokop Diviš, creador da máquina meteorolóxica, que se pode considerar o primeiro pararraios.[2]
