O Maratón Internacional de Praga, coñecido por motivos de patrocinio por Volkswagen Prague Marathon celébrase anualmente na cidade de Praga (República Checa). A competición naceu en 1995 e medrou ata converterse nun importante maratón, conseguindo o status de IAAF Gold Label.[1] De acordo cos medios de comunicación, é o maratón máis internacional do mundo, con dous terzos dos seus corredores procedentes de 55 países. O maratón de Praga é tamén o sétimo máis rápido e foi votado como o máis fermoso do mundo.[2]

O Maratón de Praga ten lugar durante unha fin de semana completa e comprende varios eventos, incluíndo o Volkswagen Prague Marathon, o Volkswagen Family Minimarathon 4,2 km, o Allianz Eco Walk 2 km, e o evento de patinaxe In-line party de 6,5 km. O Hervis Prague Half Marathon, que tamén ten o status IAAF Gold Label, celébrase cada mes de marzo ou abril.[3]
Dende a súa creación en 1995, a carreira masculina foi dominada polos atletas do leste de África, en particular cos atletas kenyatas, que gañaron un total de 13 títulos. O portugués Hélder Ornelas converteuse no primeiro e único europeo en gañar o Maratón de Praga en 2007. As campioas da carreira proceden principalmente de Rusia e Kenya, sendo a belarusa Elena Vinitskaya a corredora con máis vitorias da historia da carreira con tres vitorias consecutivas entre 1996 e 1998. Eliud Kiptanui é o atleta que posúe na actualidade o récord masculino cunha marca de 2:05:39 horas, mentres que Lydia Cheromei posúe o récord feminino cunha marca de 2:22:34 horas.[4]
