O monte Logan é o monte máis alto do Canadá e o segundo máis alto de Norteamérica despois do Denali. O monte recibe o seu nome por Sir William Edmond Logan, xeólogo canadense, fundador do Geological Survey of Canada (GSC). O monte Logan está situado na Reserva do Parque Nacional Kluane[1] no suroeste de Yukon, menos de 40 km ao norte da fronteira entre Yukon e Alasca. No monte sitúanse os glaciares Hubbard e Logan. Crese que o Logan é a montaña non volcánica de maior circunferencia da Terra.[2][3]

Debido á actividade tectónica de levantamento, o monte Logan aínda continúa a aumentar a súa altura.[4] Antes de 1992, a altura exacta do monte era descoñecida, e as medidas estaban entre 5959 e 6050 m. En maio de 1992, unha expedición da GSC subiu ao monte e fixou a altura en 5959 m empregando o GPS.[2][5]
As temperaturas no monte Logan e as súas proximidades son extremadamente baixas, chegando a -45 °C no inverno e tendo unha temperatura mediana no verán de -27 °C. O 26 de maio de 1991 rexistrouse unha temperatura non oficial de -77,5 °C.[6]
