Angiotentsina[1] giltzurruneko zelula justaglomerularrek jariatzen duten polipeptidoetako bakoitza da, odol-presioa erregulatzen duena (I, II eta III angiotentsinak daude). Erreninaren eraginez, II angiotentsina sortzen da, aldosterona jariatzea estimulatzen duen baso-uzkurtzailea.[2] 1930eko hamarkadaren amaieran isolatu eta Cleveland Clinicek eta Ciba AGk sintetizatu zuten.[3]
