Kegriai asub Virvyčia jõe kallastel. Osaliselt ulatuvad külla Natura 2000 alad Virvytė org, Venta ülemjooks ja Venta jõe org. Ka jääb asula osaliselt Virvytė maastikukaitsealale ja Venta regionaalparki. Looduskaitse all on külas kasvav Kegriai kask.[3]
Külas on kruusakarjäär. Kegriai nimi tuleneb isikunimest Kegrys.
Küla on kujutatud XVI sajandi lõpust pärineval kaardil (Kedria). Jaanuariülestõusu ajal organiseeris sealne mõisnik Jonas Leckus koos Tučiai mõisnik Feliks Kontrimasega ülestõusnute salga, mis asus tsaarivägedega Kamanose soo juures lahingusse. Jonas langes lahingus, Feliks taganes aga Kegriai metsa, kus ülestõusnud tapeti. Feliks Kontrimas ise suri Šiauliai vanglas.
Muinsuskaitse all on vana Kegriai külakalmistu. Seda piirab maakividest aed.[4]
