Ekde 1993, Douglas registris pli ol 40 albumojn kiel bandestro. Li estis produktorinta pli ol 50, inklude ĉiujn albumojn publikigitajn de sia sendependa firmao, Greenleaf Music. Li ankaŭ ludis kaj registris kun dekduoj da muzikistoj en ĵazaj kaj popolaj ĝenroj kaj estis membro de la SFJAZZ Collective kaj de variaj ensemboj de John Zorn. Kun siaj propraj grupoj, Douglas pioniris novaj stilojn por la trumpeto en ĵazo. Plej ĵuse, li esploris kunlaboroj ĉe moderna danco, spoken word/poezio, kaj kino.
