• From Proto-Albanian *j́u̯āgV-, from Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰu̯ah₂gʰV-. Compare Armenian ձագ (jag, “nestling”).^[2]

• From Proto-Albanian *zu̯āga- < *dᶻu̯āga- < *ǵu̯āga- < Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰu̯ah₂gʰó- (“calling, noisy”).^[3]
