Cognate with Lithuanian mielas (“nice, sweet, cute, dear”), Old Prussian mijls (“sweet, dear”), Proto-Slavic *mìlъ (“soft, mild, gentle, agreeable, pleasant, sweet, dear”)) and Latin mītis (“weak, tender, soft”).
