Cognate with Old High German tila, Old Norse dilkr (dialectal Swedish del), Ancient Greek θήσατο (thḗsato), Latin fēmina, Russian дои́ть (doítʹ), Latvian det, Scottish Gaelic deoghail (“suck”) and Breton denaff (“suck”) and Breton denañ (“suck”).
