Phono-semantic compound (形聲/形声, OC *kaɡ) : semantic ⺼ (“meat, body”) + phonetic 卻 (OC *kaɡ, *kʰaɡ) – part of the body, the foot or leg.
Etymology not clear (Schuessler, 2007). Unrelated to Min 跤.
腳
In many varieties of Chinese south of the Yangtze River, 腳/脚 (jiǎo) refers to the leg and foot collectively.
