From Middle Armenian թագւոր (tʻagwor), from Old Armenian թագաւոր (tʻagawor, “king”), from Parthian *tag(a)-bar (“king”, literally “crown bearing”), borrowed during the existence of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
