Die naam Geschwister Scholl (Afrikaans: "broer en suster Scholl"), verwys na Hans en sy suster Sophie Scholl, wat deel was van die München-gebaseerde weerstandsgroep, Weiße Rose (Afrikaans: "wit roos"), wat gedurende die Tweede Wêreldoorlog aktief was teen die Nasionaalsosialistiese regering van Duitsland. Die groep het hulle lewens gewaag deur pamflette te versprei in Duitsland, wat eers om passiewe weerstand en later om aktiewe weerstand teen die oorlog en teen Adolf Hitler se regering geroep het.
Hans en Sophie het twee susters, by name Inge Aicher-Scholl (1917–1998) en Elisabeth (* 1920), gehad, en een broer, Werner (1922–1944). Die familie het tot in 1930 in Forchtenberg, Duitsland gewoon, tussen 1930 en 1932 in Ludwigsburg en vanaf 1932 in Ulm.
Sophie, Hans en Gustaph Propst is direk na die Gestapo se hoofkwartier by Brienner Straße 20 geneem. Daarna is hulle oorgeplaas vir hul verhoor by die Justisiepaleis (Duits: Justizpalast) by Prielmayerstraße, waar hulle skuldig bevind en tot dood veroordeel is. Hulle is op dieselfde dag tereggestel deur onthoofding met die guillotine.[1]
