第一個自稱可汗嘅人係柔然首領社崘，響402年自稱丘豆伐可汗。史上尊稱隋文帝為聖人可汗[1]。尊稱做天可汗[2]係有唐太宗。而史上最出名嘅可汗係13世紀蒙古帝國嘅成吉思汗（被追尊可汗）。
