elementary OS係一個基於Ubuntu嘅桌面Linux發行版。佢用咗自有嘅基於GNOME嘅名做Pantheon嘅桌面環境[1]。呢個桌面環境出眾嘅原因係因為佢深度集成咗其他elementary OS應用程序，好似Plank（一個基於Docky嘅Dock) 、Epiphany（預設嘅網頁瀏覽器）同Code（一個簡單嘅文本編輯器）。呢個發行版用基於Mutter嘅Gala做佢嘅窗口管理器[1]。
