鄉村史是史學中的一門學科，鄉村史學者主要研究農村的社會歷史。 20世紀 80年代以前並沒有鄉村史這一學科，當時許多研究農村的學者主要研究農村的農業經濟史。 20世紀80年代以來，一些研究農村的學者受社會歷史學以及年鑑學派的影響，開始逐步將研究領域轉向農村的社會史以及文化史。
