乳酸去氫酶存在於四種不同的酶分類中。其中兩種是依賴細胞色素c的酶，它們各自作用於D-乳酸（EC 1.1.2.4）與L-乳酸（EC 1.1.2.3）。

反應

乳酸去氫酶的催化功能

乳酸去氫酶催化丙酮酸與乳酸之間的互變並伴隨著還原型菸鹼醯胺腺嘌呤二核苷酸與其氧化型之間互變。

此酶也可催化2-羥基丁酸的去氫作用，但其為較乳酸劣勢的受質。

L-乳酸去氫酶
