车前科（学名：Plantaginaceae）是唇形目中的一个大科，种类十分多样，包含了如金鱼草和毛地黄等花卉。

本科在以前的分类法中只包括三个属—单蕊车前属（Bougueria）、海车前属 （Littorella）和车前属（Plantago），中国只有车前属。
最新的基因分类决定将原属于玄参科的一些属划入车前科，例如，天使花属。并将杉叶藻科和肾药花科并入本科。现在包括90属约1700余种。其中最大的婆婆纳属就包括450余种。中国约有19属。
本科植物主要分布在全球的温带地区，既有草本也有灌木，还有几种是水生植物。叶既有单叶也有复叶，有对生的也有螺旋式排列的；花也多样，有花瓣4的也有5-8的，一般花冠分为上下两部分唇状；果实为蒴果。
1981年的克朗奎斯特分类法将其单独分为一个单科的车前目，1998年根据基因亲缘关系分类的APG 分类法将充实后的车前科列在唇形目中。
