金錢魚科

金錢魚科（學名：Scatophagidae），傳統上為輻鰭魚綱鱸形目的其中一個科，現為真鱸形系下目級地位未定的一科。

分佈

本科魚類分佈於印度西太平洋區。

深度

水深1至10公尺。

特徵

本科於體高，甚側扁，被細小櫛鱗，口小，前位，不能伸出，兩頷牙呈帶狀。鼻孔兩個，相距極近，眶前骨極寬大，鰓蓋骨與峽部相連，鰓耙短而少，體被小櫛鱗，側線完全。背鰭1枚，硬棘與軟條間具深缺刻，尾鰭截平或淺雙凹形。

分類

本科現已知是大眼鯛目的姐妹群，兩者過去都被視為鱸形目的一部份，但現在已知它們都是與魨形目及鮟鱇目更親近的魚類。

生態

棲息於近海海水或半鹹水的沙泥底質區域，屬雜食性。

經濟利用

屬於中小型食用魚，適合清蒸，肉質普通。背鰭及臀鰭硬棘有毒，處理時須注意。
