在中國大陸文化中，「韭菜」、「人礦」是對於「被壓榨者」的比喻，亦因此被引申為被壓榨的底層民眾[1][2]。在最初，「韭菜」一詞來源於形容在股市被大戶欺壓的散戶[3]，因為韭菜耐寒不容易死，割了又重新生長，以養活採割者[2][4][5][6]。
「割韭菜」比喻上層有權有勢者壓榨剝削底層民眾，亦比喻憑藉資訊落差（information gap）或資訊不對等（information asymmetry）而處於優勢地位的人剝削處於劣勢地位的人[7][8][9][10]。
後來中國大陸互聯網又衍生出類似詞語「人造人」以形容滬漂。[11]
