歷史學家安東尼奧·加西亞·馬塞拉 (Antonio Garcia Maceira) 於1876年首次提到與阿拉伯農業革命類似的概念,不過當時他沒有把類似的概念稱之為阿拉伯農業革命。[1][2][3][4][5][6]阿拉伯農業革命這個名字是由歷史學家安德魯·沃森(Andrew Watson) 在1974年首次提出[7] 。
