約沙法在位的年期，目前歷史上有兩種講法：
根據歷代志下17章記載，約沙法在位第三年，差遣大臣便亥伊勒、俄巴底、撒迦利雅、拿坦業、米該亞，帶着耶和華的律法書，週遊猶大各城去教訓百姓；周圍的列國都畏懼耶和華，不敢與約沙法爭戰。非利士人給約沙法納來貢銀；亞拉伯人也送他羊群一萬多隻[1]。
